Introducing :: Dirty Jane

Words: Ellie Ward

Budding Birmingham rockers Dirty Jane kick up a dirty enough sound on 'Boogie Monster', their debut single on the newly formed Magic Garden Vinyl Records, released March 13.

Produced by Gavin Monaghan, 'Boogie Monster' is just that: three minutes of big-hitting primal rock'n'roll. Check out the 'Monster' above, and its darker, alt-garage rock B-side, 'Knuckleduster Blues', below.

Inspired by the raw energy and simple structures of garage/punk bands like The Stooges and The Cramps as well as 50s rockabilly artists such as Gene Vincent and Link Wray, behind the raw energy and intense noise, Dirty Jane's lyrical content and depth of subject matter is something frontman and songwriter Jack Brown takes very seriously. There is a keen interest in exploring the dark side of the male psyche with all its insecurity and anxiety intact. With a love of using B-Movie horror imagery as well as a dark sense of humour Brown creates a dichotomy between rock’n’roll cliche and a kind of intense emotional exorcism.

Dirty Jane are: Jack Brown - vocals, guitar; John Beadsmore - bass, backing vocals; Elliot Morris - drums, backing vocals.
