The Great Escape announces first 50 acts with exclusive live performances

Words: Ellie Ward

It might still only be 2017 and a full eight months away from The Great Escape's next appearance on the Sussex coast, but organisers are shaping up to tempt us with the announcement of the first 50 acts revealed.

The second instalment of the FIRST FIFTY – the biggest festival launch in the world; a series of exclusive gigs, across 5 venues over 3 days in East London, will take place between November 21 - 23 2017.

The artists announced today give a first glimpse of the talent lined up to play TGE 2018.

The FIRST FIFTY line-up will include Copenhagen-based pop rhythm wizard KOPS, whose crackling voices and intelligent productions move effortlessly between playfulness and intensity. George Ezra’s brother Ten Tonnes will have everyone singing along with his indie guitar wheedling songs. Little Indie discovery FREAK will bring 20 year old Connar Ridd to a wider audience with his energy driven live set, while 18 year old singer-songwriter Joy Crookes from South London is already grabbing industry attention with her pop/RnB-soaked sounds, unique lyrics and haunting voice. Aussie favourites City Calm Down and Mansionair bring some Oz indie sunshine to London, as Coventry indie-rockers FEET will bring their own brand of fresh mayhem to their set.
